This estimate is based on structural drawings provided. The bid is for the installation of two new I-beam and pressure treated wood lagging retaining walls as per plans. Our price includes all labor and material to complete the job as per the itemized “Scope of Work” below.

Scope of Work
Rear Retaining Walls
• Mobilize to jobsite.
• Temporarily support the northern section of the existing wooden deck to safely remove (2) existing deck supports plus a portion of existing concrete tie beam for the installation of the new I-beam retaining wall. Remove temporary supports once deck is sitting on the new post footings.
• Saw-cut, demolish and remove from site (2) existing deck concrete pier footings and one small section of existing concrete tie beam. Remove debris from site.
• Perform layout with client for the location of the two new I-beam walls.
• Drill (6) 18” diameter x 15 ft. deep piers and install (6) new W8x35x15 ft. long metal I-beams in pier holes. Fill piers with 2500 psi concrete.
• Drill (1) 18” diameter x 13 ft. deep pier and install (1) new W8x35x13 ft. long metal I-beams in pier holes. Fill piers with 2500 psi concrete.
• Drill (5) 18” diameter x 18 ft. deep piers and install (5) new W8x35x18 ft. long metal I-beams in pier holes. Fill piers with 2500 psi concrete.
• Remove drilling spoils from site.
• Install 4×12 ACZA pressure treated lagging between I-beams. Seal all cut ends with preservative. Leave ¼” gap between boards for drainage.
• Install back drain consisting of permeable class II drain rock wrapped in filter fabric as shown on drawings. Cap drainage system with compacted native soils.
• Install (2) new reinforced concrete deck pier footings similar to original detail F-S1 plus a replacement tie beam per detail G-S1 shown on original drawings sent by homeowner. Includes (2) new hot dip galvanized post bases to replace existing.
• Clean-up construction debris from site.

Alternate #1 – Bench Excavation
• Excavate two new benches for the installation of the new walls. Bench estimated for length of new wall as shown on drawings x 2 ft. wide x approx. 6 ft. deep. Stockpile spoils at rear yard. Removal of spoils not included.

Alternate #2 – Bench Excavation Spoils Removal
• Remove 30 trucked cubic yards of bench excavated spoils from site. Mass yard excavation is not included.

Alternate #3 – 6 ft. tall picket fence
• Drill three holes at (5) new I beam locations for the installation of the new 6 ft. fence.
• Install (5) 4×4 new pressure treated posts at each I-beam location. Please note a portion of this fence is on CMU wall (1/S-3) and is not included in this estimate.
• Install 21 linear ft. of new fence as per detail 5/S-3.

Alternate #4 – upper wall 3 ft. “railings”
• Drill three holes at (5) new I beam locations for the installation of the new 6 ft. fence.
• Install (5) 4×4 new pressure treated posts at each I-beam location plus (3) new isolated hand-rail piers as shown on detail 3/S-3.
• Install a new 3 ft. tall railing as per structural detail 3/S-3.

Qualifications and Clarifications
• Job is bid as package unless agreed otherwise.
• Includes one mobilization only.
• Prices are subject to adequate supply of rock, concrete, asphalt, PVC resins, PVC pipe, fittings at prices quoted at bid time and are good for 30 days.
• Proposal is based on working STD 5 day, 40 hour work week, and mutually agreeable schedules.
• Progress payments every two weeks. No retention
